Adding Cards with Bulk Import
The Bulk Import is the fastest way to quickly add a large amount of your existing inventory and sales data into whuppit so you can start get organized and start keeping better track of your sales and what you have on-hand. It’s fast (you can add hundreds of cards in seconds), very flexible and can be used for bulk importing historical data from your existing spreadsheets or tooling, purchases from marketplaces like eBay and COMC, and much more.
How to use the Bulk Import Feature
You can find the Bulk Import feature on the new card page, or by navigating directly to the Bulk Import functionality.
The Bulk Importer requires a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file. There’s a template you can download to help you get started, but it’s not required—the bulk importer let’s you map your existing spreadsheet columns to the appropriate whuppit fields.
For simplicity, the only field that is required is the card name. But you’ll get more out of whuppit the more data you provide. You can always edit each card after it’s been imported as well, but the fastest way is to get things set in your spreadsheet (both Google Sheets and Excel work great and let you save as a CSV). If you’re stuck, send me a message and I’ll be happy to help you get your import figured out.
Once you have your CSV file, you can upload it by dragging it onto the field or selecting “Choose File”.
As soon as you’ve uploaded your file, whuppit will give you the option to map your existing columns to the various whuppit fields.
If you’re using your own spreadsheet, you can speed things up a bit by using the column names from the template so that whuppit automatically recognizes them.
You’ll be able to see the CSV column name, as well as an example data point from your spreadsheet for each field to make sure you’re pulling in what you would expect.
Take some time to make sure your fields are mapped appropriately. For any field that you do not want to import, or do not have data for, you can select “Skip this field” and whuppit will not try to match any of your existing spreadsheet data to that field.
Once you have the fields mapped, select “Import Cards”. whuppit will import all the cards in your sheet and show you a count of how many were successfully added.
At this point, all of your cards should be available in whuppit where you can edit them as necessary, and immediately have access to any relevant reporting.
