Adding Cards by Quick Search
The Quick Search feature lets you quickly pull up the information for a card by searching for the card using any combination of set, year, player, card number and parallel. Similar to the Quick Add by Certificate feature, the Quick Search feature will search across all cards ever graded by PSA, SGC, BGS and CGC to see if it can find a match. Once you find the card you’re looking for, selecting it will cause whuppit to fetch all the relevant information it can and auto-populate those fields for you.
Helpful tip: The Quick Search feature only works for cards that have been graded. If you have a brand new release or a card that has never been sent in to any of the grading companies supported, the Quick Search feature won’t find a match and you’ll have to enter the information in manually.
How to use the Quick Add by Certificate Feature
First, navigate to the new card page in your account and select the “Quick Add by Search” button.
That will bring up the search field. You can type in the card name, set player name, year, card number or parallel to start searching.
As you start searching, whuppit will show you the top five possible matches, based on data from the PSA, SGC, BGS and CGC grading databases. You can continue to add more details in the search, or adjust your query, until the card you were looking for appears in the list.
Once the card you were looking for appears, clicking on it will cause whuppit to grab all the relevant information about the card that is available and use that information to automatically populate the appropriate fields. At the moment, here are the fields that get automatically filled in:
- Year
- Card Name
- Parallel
- Card Number
- Player
- Card Type (set to Graded)
- Sport
From there, you can review the imported data and add any additional information you may want to about the print run, purchase or sales information, notes to yourself, etc before saving the card to your inventory.
